Practical information for the RPA workshop
View of the Jussieu campus from the Seine river.
Location of the workshop
The workshop will take place on the main campus (Jussieu campus) of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC or Paris 6) in the Latin Quarter in Paris.
Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC Paris 6)
4 place Jussieu
75005 Paris
Subway (Metro) lines 7 or 10: get off at "Jussieu" station.
See the map of the campus area. (Notice that there is an error on the map: "Université Denis Diderot" should be replaced by "Université Pierre et Marie Curie").
The talks will take place in the Esclangon building of the campus, in room "Amphi Durand" on Tuesday 26 and Friday 29, and room "Amphi Herpin" on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28.
The Esclangon building is at the South-East corner of the campus, at the intersection of "rue Jussieu" and "rue Cuvier". It can be accessed from the campus pedestrian parvis or directly from the street. The entrances of "Amphi Durand" and "Amphi Herpin" are both on the ground floor of the building, on opposite sides of the main hall.
A smaller room (for up to 30 people) will also be available on Monday 25 for an informal get-together and, if prefered to "Amphi Durand", on Friday 29 for informal post-lectures discussions. This is room 101 in building 55/65. From the campus entrance, go to building 55, take the stairs or the elevator to the first floor, take corridor 55/65. The room 101 is the first one on the left.
There will be a wi-fi available during the entire workshop.
There will be a videoprojector and a transparency overhead projector in the lecture hall.
Lunches
You can either have lunch at the university cafeteria (open from 11:30am to 2:00pm) or find restaurants in the surroundings of the campus (place Jussieu).
Warning: the university cafeteria is often crowded so it can take time.
The university cafeteria is located at the North-Est corner of the campus.
When you enter the building, you first need to buy a ticket (visitor fare, 8 euros) at the ticket office on the extreme right. Then, you go to the staff cafeteria ("Restaurant administratif") to the extreme left (and not the student cafeteria which is in the middle of the building). There are usually 3 lines of people queuing to enter 3 equivalent rooms. You can choose any room. With a 8-euro ticket, you can have one main dish, plus 3 additional small dishes (starters and desserts). Drinks (except for tap water) are not included in the price. Note that you cannot pay inside the cafeteria but you can only use a ticket.
