Visas

Most foreign nationals will need a visa to enter Vietnam. Please check in advance with the Vietnamese embassy in your home country. Some foreign passport holders will not need an entrance visa. Please check the list of visa exempt countries provided by the Consular Department - Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


You may choose to apply for a Vietnam tourist visa on your own or through an agency, such as http://www.myvietnamvisa.com/ which is quite convenient, but with a service fee.


On the other hand, we will be happy to apply for visa(s) for you and your companions in the Immigration Department in Hanoi. In this case, please fill out VISA FORM (or its PDF format) and return this to us by email at least two weeks before your date of arrival. Please attach also your passport scan(s).

When your visa is approved, we will send the visa approval letter (issued by the Immigration Department) to you for further processing. You can then pick up your visa

1) at a Vietnamese consulate in your country of residence or in a third country, or

2) at a Vietnamese international airport of your entry in Vietnam.

In case 1): You need to submit a visa application to the Vietnamese consulate of your choice, with the given visa approval letter in order to get the visa.

In case 2): You do not need to do anything else before arrival. Just look for “Visa On Arrival” office when arrived at the Vietnamese international airport, where you can collect your visa (the stamping fee is 45 USD per visa, paid by cash).

The Conference Venue

The workshop will be held at the Sheraton Hotel Nha Trang (central Viet Nam)

The conference and lodging will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Nha Trang. Fees will include accommodation, conference room rental, coffee breaks, lunches and conference diner.

A cheaper fee will be optional for accompanying persons for covering lodging and the conference dinner.

Funding will be raised from French and Vietnamese governments to cover fees for students and some of the speakers. More information will be available here and through the circulars ASAP.Please contact your session chair if you are interested in applying for funds.

Transportation

Transportation Various forms of convenient transports are available. - Road: The National Highway 1A and the railway from north to south run through Khanh Hoa Province, linking it with the other provinces in the North and South. The National Highway 26 links Khanh Hoa to some provinces in the Central Highland. Nha Trang is 105km from Phan Rang, 190km from Buon Ma Thuot, 205km from Dalat, 238km from Quy Nhon, 441km from Ho Chi Minh City, and 1,278km from Hanoi.

  1. Airlines: Nha Trang Airport is 5km from the center of the city. Vietnam Airlines offers daily connections with Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and four connections a week with Danang. Cam Ranh Airport is 35km south of Nha Trang has flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to there.
  2. Train:Regular connections between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City all stop in Nha Trang, daily train between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang.
  3. Bus: There are connections with Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Vinh, Pleiku... Minibus for Hoi An, Hue, and Dalat...
  4. Water: Cam Ranh and Nha Trang ports connect Khanh Hoa with many regions in Vietnam as well as with abroad.

Climate

The region Khanh Hoa has a tropical monsoon climate with an average temperature of 26.5 C. The rain season lasts 4 months (from September to December), except around Nha Trang City, where the rainy season lasts only 2 months.

Influenced by both of tropical monsoon and oceanic climate, Nha Trang has temperate climate. Average annually temperature is 26ºC, the highest peak in August (29.3ºC) and the lowest point in February (23.9ºC). The yearly average humidity is 77%. The city receives 807mm of rainfall a year.

Khanh Hoa has been deeply marked by the strong ancient culture of the Cham. Until today, Champa Kingdom has left an invaluable inheritance of ruins and historical sites to visit. Khanh Hoa is endowed with beautiful natural sites and sand beaches. Visitors will enjoy the group of five or six islands situated close to each other. The largest of the islands is Hon Tre, which is located 3km from Nha Trang. The city of Nha Trang has long been renowned for being a sea resort with plenty of historical vestiges and wonderful sceneries: Cham Po Nagar Towers, Long Son Pagoda, Ba Vu Mausoleum, Bao Dai Palace, Hon Chong, Hon Yen, Tri Nguyen Fish Pond, Bai Tru, Suoi Tien, Dai Lanh Beach... and many islets offshore. Nha Trang Bay has been recognized as one of 29 most beautiful bays in the word since 7/2003.The population mainly constitutes Kinh people, as well as a small percentage of Ra Glai, Tay, Nung, Muong, and Cham.
